BOOKING RIDES

This is a very simple process . . . and you can get involved!

CWAS’ Trishaw rides are available, free of charge, to anyone of any age with mobility challenges or living with loneliness or isolation. Other than in exceptional circumstances, CWAS Trishaws can accommodate two passengers. If you wish to book a ride for yourself, perhaps with a loved-one or friend as a companion, or if you want to book for someone else, just contact CWAS HQ and we’ll connect you with a suitable Chapter. Our contact details are:

01324 467 272 or email at info@cwas.org

Alternatively, if you see a CWAS Trishaw out and about in your area, flag it down and have a chat with the Pilot, who will be able to give you details about booking locally.

As mentioned above, YOU can get involved. If you are a friend or family member of a passenger, you would of course be most welcome to accompany them on their ride/s. Going one better, you could ride alongside them on a bike or eBike – or best still, you could train as a Pilot and take them out yourself. This is a fantastic way of engaging different generations as Pilot, passenger, co-passenger or outrider.

Care Homes / Day Centres etc.

Virtually every CWAS Chapter has excellent relationships with local care facilities and takes residents out on a regular basis. If you represent a care facility or another type of care organisation, like a day centre, and are interested in establishing such a service, please just contact CWAS HQ (details as above) and we’ll put you in touch with an appropriate Chapter.

It’s worth mentioning that some care homes have created their own Chapter so that the CWAS facility is on hand at all times. Though some staff train as Pilots, realistically this kind of set-up will only succeed if enough members of residents’ families also train as Pilots and take rides out, as staff are nearly always fully allocated to their normal duties. Trained family members taking residents out for Trishaw rides is of course a wonderful form of ongoing bonding and a fantastic way to give the relative who is a passenger the most enormous pleasure. If you represent a care home that is thinking about setting up a Chapter, please do get in touch with our HQ to talk it through.

Booking rides at the Helix Hub

This is just as simple and straightforward – and what a way to see round Helix Park! The only difference is that we ask you to contact the Helix Hub directly, whether you are an individual or a care facility, on 07396 803117 or email helixhub@cwas.org

Please note that, because of the slightly different operation at the Helix Hub, a small booking fee may be charged but, as is the case throughout CWAS, the rides themselves are completely free of charge for anyone who meets our standard criteria. The cost of operating our Helix Hub is entirely dependent on donations, so all donations – large or small – are greatly welcomed.

Though we can sometimes accommodate “walk-up” bookings, pre-booking is strongly advised. Like all our Chapters, the days that the Helix Hub is operational are dependent on the weather and availability of our volunteer Pilots.
